Schmalzried Rites Held Sunday. Funeral services were held for Mrs. George Schmalzried, who died in Levering Wednesday, from the Levering Methodist church at 2:00 p.m. Saturday. Burial was at Carp Lake Cemetery. Mrs. Schmalzried was born January 23, 1863, in Walkerton, Ont., the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. John Hoar. As a small child she moved with her parents and brother Henry to North Carolina where they lived until 1876. In October of that year they came to Cross Village and settled on a homestead. She married George Schmalzried of Carp Lake Township in 1887. To this union were born six children. They spent their entire married life on their farm northwest of Levering. They were charter members of the Levering Methodist Church and both active in church affairs during their entire lives. They celebrated their Golden Wedding anniversary in 1937. Following Mr. Schmalzried's death in June 1941, Mrs. Schmalzried made her home with her daughter Mrs. M. C. Pangborn of Levering. Surviving besides her daughter, Mrs. Pangborn are another daughter , Mrs. W. D. Robinson of Hastings; one son, Lyle Schmalzried of Lansing; eight grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; and two brothers, Andrew and Henry Hoar of Levering. Those attending the funeral from out of town were Miss Evelyn Morrow, Mr. and Mrs. Wallace Adamson, Mrs. Henry Staley and children of Detroit, Mr. and Mrs. George Randall of Benton Harbor, Malcome Robinson of Hastings, and Richard Robinson of Eaton Rapids. Rev. and Mrs. W. D. Robinson of Hastings were unable to attend because of illness.
