Deceased Name: TWOMBLY, James H.
67, of St. Petersburg, passed away Sunday, Oct. 12, 2008. He was born Jan. 14, 1941, in Cleveland, OH. He graduated from Shaker Heights High School, OH, in 1958, and Miami University of Ohio in 1964. He joined the U.S. Navy, where he enjoyed a 23 year career as a pilot with tours in Texas, Maine, Iceland, Florida, Maryland, and Virginia. During an assignment in Key West, he met a Navy nurse, Maureen Hoar, who became his wife in 1975. He finished his Navy career as Commanding Officer of the Tampa Reserve Center. He had a second career as a pilot for TWA. He enjoyed sailing, boating, traveling, and caring for animals, especially his Scottish Terriers and the cats at the boatyard. He was a member of the St. Petersburg Yacht Club and St. Raphael's Church. He was preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth P. and Helen H. Twombly, and is survived by his wife and his brother, John Twombly of Cincinnati, OH, as well as other loving family members. There will be a gathering from 10 am until service time at 11 am, Saturday, Oct. 18, 2008, at Anderson-McQueen Funeral Home, 2201 Dr. M. L. King Jr. St. N., St. Petersburg, FL, 727-822-2059. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in his name to the fund for the Chapel, which he attended daily, at St. Mary Our Lady of Grace, 515 Fourth Street South, St. Petersburg, FL 33701-4609.
