Deceased Name: Obituary: Fred Granville Howard
Fred Granville (Hoar) Howard, age 91, passed away January 4, 2002 at the VA Hospital in Salt Lake City after a brief illness. We honor him after a wonderful life as a husband, father, grandfather, and friend.
He was born Dec 18 , 1910 near Orleans, Orange County, IN the seventh child of Matthew E. and Delilah Chastain Hoar. On Sept 29, 1930, he married his high school sweetheart, Blanche Marie Chastain in Eire, PA. They spent the majority of their married life in Austin, Texas and San Diego, CA.
Fred was a veteran who served in the Navy in World War II. He was a photo en-graver by profession, but enjoyed many hobbies including golf, gardening, hunting, fishing, crossword puzzles, and woodworking.
He was preceded in death by his wife of over 70 years who passed away June 3, 2001 in Orem, UT; siblings, John Jay Hoar (1984), Walter Elmo Hoar (1988), Jacob Theaker Howard (1960), Cecil Ray Hoar (1958) and a set of twins, brother and sister, dying at birth (1904).
Prior to moving to Provo, UT Fred and Blanche had lived in Placentia, CA for the past few years.
Fred is survived by his only child, James Edward Howard; and daughter-in-law, Patrica, Provo, UT; five grandchildren, Travis Page Green-wood (Andrea); Rolling Hills Estates, CA, Suzanne Bringhurst (Gary), Boise, ID, Tamela Blake (Boyd), Provo, UT, Carolyn Clanton (Richard), Carthage, MO, James Mathew Howard, West Los Angeles, CA; and 13 great-grandchildren.
Services will be Mon. Jan 7, 2002, 11 a.m., Olpin Family Mortuary Chapel, 494 S. 300 E, Pleasant Grove where friends may call 10:15-10:45 a.m. Interment, American Fork City Cemetery.
