As a resident of Arlington, from the 1930s through the 1980s, she was a member of St. Andrew's Episcopal Church and became a key volunteer for the Washington Bach Consort, a professional chorus, and also the Smithsonian. She moved to Sumter in the early 1990s to be near her brother, the late John S. Hoar, and his family.
In Sumter, she was a lay reader at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter, where she was a member of the Daughters of the King and had previously served on the Alter Guild. She was also a member of the Pilot Club.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her brother, John S. Hoar; and sister-in-law Julia W. Hoar.
Memorial services will be held at 3 p.m. Tuesday at the Episcopal Church of the Holy Comforter with the Rev. Marcus Kaiser officiating.
The family will receive friends following the service in the Parish Hall and other times at the home of her niece, 24 Park Ave.
