Obituary:
USMA Class of 1918. He was the son of John Newton Horr and Clara Virginia Johnson Horr. His first wife was Madeline Mulford.
He was born and raised in Portsmouth, Ohio, the son of John Newton Horr. He entered the United States Military Academy in 1915 and graduated on June 12, 1918 with a ranking of 41st in a class of 137. He was assigned to the Field Artillery. After attending the Field Artillery School at Fort Sill, he was selected to be an instructor, Department of Gunnery from 1918 to 1920. His next assignment was as Assistant Professor of Military Science and Tactics at Princeton University. In November 1922, he was honorably discharged and joined the Officers Reserve Corps with the rank of captain. In civilian life he joined the Guaranty Trust Co. of New York City from 1922 to 1931. From 1931 until 1942 he was an instructor at the Hunt School for boys, at Princeton. In 1936, he earned a Master of Arts degree in education at Columbia University. During World War II he served at various Field Artillery and Infantry replacement training centers in the United States until in 1946 he was honorably discharged as a colonel, Army of the United States. From 1950 to 1967, he resided in Palo Alto, California. On July 22, 1967 he married his wife, Kathryn in San Antonio, Texas. Survivors included his widow, Kathryn, a daughter from his first marriage of Sacramento, California and two grandsons.
