She was born near Tontogany, Ohio to Allen and Bertha (Fisher) Daniels on September 25, 1921. She grew up on a farm on Box Rd., Providence Twp. She graduated from Grand Rapids High School in 1939. On September 25, 1942, she married Harold D. Tilton. They moved to Whitehouse where she helped him operate Tilton's Hardware and later Tilton's Implements until his death on December 17, 1982. Elva Jean was a member of Hope United Methodist Church and active in the United Methodist Women and its Clothing Closet and Love Quilt Projects. In the past, for many years, she was a Sunday School teacher and in charge of providing floral altar arrangements using funeral or garden flowers. She was a member of Friendly Center Guild, Lucas County Farm Bureau, Anthony Wayne Senior Citizens, Anthony Wayne 55+, charter member of TOPS #OH 1040, Whitehouse, and charter member of former Oak Openings Garden Club. She is survived by son, John D. (Michelle) Tilton of Waterville; granddaughter, Kellie Tilton; grandson, Gregory Tilton; sister, Vera Hennings of Delta; many nieces and nephews, and good friend, Carrie Krohn. Besides her husband, she was preceded in death by her parents; daughter, Lois Mae; brothers, Dwight, William, and Estell Daniels, and sisters, Mary Hoar and S. Eudora Falkenberg. Friends and family may call Thursday from 3-9 p.m. at Peinert Funeral Home, Whitehouse, Ohio. Funeral services will be Friday, April 1, 2005, at 11:00 a.m. at Hope United Methodist Church, Whitehouse, OH with Rev. Tom Hoover officiating.
