Deceased Name: Ruby D. Talberg
SOUTH OGDEN - Ruby D. Talberg, 84, passed away Tuesday, July 15, 2003 at her home in South Ogden.
Ruby was born November 29, 1918 in Salt Lake City to Lucien C. and Harriet A. McCall Horr.
She spent her early years in Soldier Summit, Utah and Grand Junction, Colorado.
She later attended LDS Business College and Brigham Young University, where she met and later married Melvern Wheeler in 1937.
After Melvern"s death in 1941, Ruby worked for the railroad and supported the war effort. In 1953 she married Melvin Talberg. They were later sealed in the Ogden LDS Temple.
During her professional career, Ruby worked for the Southern Pacific Railway, and as an executive secretary and programs analyst for Boeing Company until her retirement in 1981. During her life she traveled extensively, living in southern Idaho; Denver, Colorado; North Platte, Nebraska; Des Moines, Iowa; and Chicago, Illinois.
Her interests included reading, public speaking, gardening and travel. Throughout her life she remained active in the LDS Church fulfilling a stake mission and held offices in several community organizations. She devoted her life to helping people with developmental disabilities and will be remembered by friends and family as an extraordinary cook.
Ruby will be lovingly remembered by her son, Neil Talberg of American Fork; her daughter, Jolene (Jack) Junk of Ogden; four grandchildren, eight great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren; and her sister, Ruth Hoyt of Ogden.
She was preceded in death by her two husbands.
Funeral services will be held Friday, July 18th at 11 a.m. at Lindquist"s Ogden Mortuary, 3408 Washington Blvd.
At her request, no viewing has been scheduled.
Interment, Ogden City Cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society.
