      DEATH OF MRS. RICHARD HOAR(BETSY HARRIS)
      On Tuesday, September 16, 1913, there passed away one of the oldest residents of this district (Brooklin) in the person of Betsy Harris, relict of the late Richard Hoar, aged 94 years and three months. Mrs. Hoar had been in failing health for the past ten years, and for the last two years had been suffering from an incurable disease. She was widely and favorably known in the neighborhood, and was always ready to lend a helping hand to any where it was necessary. Mrs. Hoar was born in England in 1819. In 1850 she came to this country with her husband and four children, settling in Whitby Township, where she has resided ever since. She leaves to mourn her loss three sons and two daughters, namely William, of Myrtle; John, of Ponoka, Alta; James of Calgary; Mrs. J. Mason, of Toronto; and Mrs. William Blight, of Brooklin. The funeral took place on Thursday, the 18th, from the home of Mr. William Blight, Brooklin, to the Groveside Cemetery. Rev. Mr, Bell, of Brooklin, officiated, assisted by Rev. R. Allin of Myrtle. The pall-bearers were grandsons of the deceased; Messrs. Fred Mason, Edward, Wesley, Charles, George and Archie Blight. Among relatives present from a distance were: Mrs. J. Mason, Toronto; Mr. and Mrs. James O'Day, Hamilton; Mr. Fred and Miss Bessie Mason, Toronto, Mr. and Mrs. Gordon Anderson, Toronto; Mrs. Chas. Batchelor, and Mr. Wesley Blight, Toronto. Mrs. Hoar has living thirty grandchildren, fifty-one great-grandchildren, and four great-great grandchildren.
