      Obituary:
      http://www.innisfailprovince.ca/obits/oct2007.pdf
Marie Hoar (nee Scarlett) passed away suddenly at home on October 12, 2007 surrounded by family. She will always be remembered by Geoff, her husband of 58 years. Her legacy will live on in her family, Dave (Judy), Geoff and Greg, Jim (Helen), Matthew and Melissa, Ron (Laura), Jennifer (Adam) Kirk and Robert, Bruce (Holly) and Graeme, and Marie (Kevin), Emilie and Hunter Porter. She is also survived by her two brothers, Ed (Barb) and Roy (Cordy) and numerous nephews, nieces, cousins and friends. She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Ethel Scarlett, and her sister Myrtle Puddifant. Alice was born and raised in the Little Red Deer district where she started her schooling. She completed high school in Innisfail and attended Normal
School in Calgary where she obtained her teaching certificate. She taught at Aberdeen and Pleasant Valley schools until she married Geoff on July 25, 1949. Together they operated a mixed farm and raised five children. Alice was active in her community. She played piano at the Knee Hill Valley church, sang in the choir, served on the United Church board in various capacities, including chair. Alice was a founding member of the Club 51 and was instrumental in organizing many of the Christmas concerts at the community hall. She taught generations of children piano lessons and continued to play piano at Autumn Glen Lodge and the Extended Care wing of the Innisfail Hospital. Mom was always focused on raising her family. She attended every possible function that they were participating in. Mom and Dad drove hours to attend 4-H events, hockey games and other sporting events, amateur theatre and music recitals by their children and grandchildren. Mom put a high value on education and encouraged her children to pursue higher education. She was proud that all five of her children had earned at least one University degree. Alice led a busy social life as well. She loved to curl, golf, play bridge or crib and garden. She and Geoff loved to travel and felt fortunate to have each other to travel with. Together they spanned most of the globe. A celebration of her life will be held at the Innisfail United Church on October 19, 2007 at 1 p.m. In lieu of flowers the family requests donations be made to Canadian Cancer Society, the Innisfail Hospital or a charity of your choice.

      Her sister's obituary:
PUDDIFANT Myrtle Grace Puddifant passed away peacefully at her home on Sunday, June 19, 2005 at the age of 74 years. Myrtle leaves to mourn her three children, Ruth (Colin) Hansen of Eckville, Jack (Marilyn) Puddifant of Sylvan Lake and Brenda (Brian) Sawyer of Innisfail. She also leaves to mourn her eight grandchildren, Jess (Jerry) Persson, Clay and Amy Puddifant, Jordan and Brittany Wyatt, and Jason, Trevor and Dylan Sawyer. Myrt will also be sadly missed by her sister and brothers, Alice (Geoff) Hoar, Edwin (Barb) Scarlett, and Roy (Cordy) Scarlett, together with numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and special friends and neighbors.
