The following is the biography of Catherine J. Walsh written by Robert Linn Clare. (Year unknown)

      Catherine J. Walsh

She was the first wife of Philip H. Horr (formerly spelled Hore).

She was born in Portsmouth, Virginia in 1834, the daughter of Mrs. Fanny Walsh of Manloves Place, 1st West Station. Father's name not known and presumed dead when the attached letters were written.

She was living (June 1853) with her mother, brother Joseph and two marries sisters, Mrs. Lucy Ann Reynolds and Mrs. Fanny Forbes and their husbands, all in the same house in Portsmouth, Virginia when she met Philip H. Horr, her future husband. (See two letters)

She married Philip in 1854 and died one year later, age 20, at childbirth, leaving a baby girl Catherine. (See letter of Philip to wife's mother regarding care of infant.)

This letter of Philip's, dated September 17, 1855, written from Alexandria, Virginia, is particularly poignant, as it referred to his grief over the early loss of his young wife and it discussed the care of his baby daughter. He also included noted to the two married sisters and the brother Joseph.
