FALL RIVER --- Edward F. Hoar, 63, of 20 Elm St., Assonet, formerly of Maple Street, Fall River, died unexpectedly yesterday at St. Anne's Hospital.
He was the husband of Viola S. (Norman) Hoar.
Born in Fall River, son of the late Charles J. and Frances J. (Casey) Hoar, he had lived in Fall River until moving to Assonet 21 years ago.
He was owner and operator of Eddie's Auto Repair in Fall River for 15 years until selling the business in 1970. He later worked for New England Power Co. as an electrician's helper and as a mechanic at Bernard's Atlantic Station. Before retiring in March, he had been a maintenance man at Ocean Spray in Middleboro for 12 years.
While living in Fall River, he was a communicant of Sacred Heart Church. He was also a member of the Fraternal Order of Eagles and the Teamsters Union.
Besides his wife he leaves three daughters, Sharon Owens, Lynne M. Aubin and Lori Mathias, all of Fall River; a brother, Charles J. Hoar of East Greenwich, R.I., and Florida; two sisters, Evelyn Dorsey of Bristol, R.I., and Muriel Charron of Somerset; and four grandchildren.
The funeral will be held Tuesday at 8:15 a.m. from the "Cherry Place" Home of Waring-Ashton & Coughlin-D.D. Sullivan-Driscoll, 178 Winter St., with a funeral Mass in Sacred Heart Church, Linden St., at 9.
Burial will be in St. Patrick Cemetery.
