    • Leonard Hoar was an early American clergyman and educator. He was educated at Harvard College and later studied medicine at Cambridge University. He occupied various ecclesiastical positions in England and produced works on biblical scholarship. In 1672 he was appointed president of Harvard. He occupied that position until his death in 1675.
