He inherited Stourhead, Wiltshire from his + cousin, and on his death became 6th baronet. He lived at Stourhead and + reconstructed it after a serious fire in 1902. He was a country gentleman who + bred horses and developed the grounds of Stourhead. He bequeathed the house to + the National Trust in 1946, and the balance of the estate to his cousin, Henry + Peregrine Rennie HOARE. The estate at Oxenham, Devon was sold in 1911, and at + Wavendon, Bucks in 1919. Has cousin Peter Arthur (b.1862 Teynmouth, Devon) a + banker.
