ELLIOTT - Mrs. Margaret Elliott Hoard, widow of Joseph s. Hoard, of Mansfield, died at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Thad Logan, in Lyons, NY, January 5, after a long illness. She was born in Covington township, October 7, 1855, daughter of Orson Valentine Elliott and Celia Kelly Elliott. She moved to Mansfield in 1864. She was a member of the Presbyterian church. On June 10, 1875, she was married to Joseph Seth Hoard, who was then cashier of the Ross & Williams bank. To them four children were born, H. Reed Hoard, deceased, formerly of Philadelphia; Mrs. Warren [Nellie] Tubbs, of Buffalo; Donald V. Hoard, of Mansfield, and Mrs. Thad [Dorothy] Logan, of Lyons, NY; also six grandchildren and one great grandchild. She is also survived by two sisters, Mrs. Albe B. Welch, of Coudersport, and Mrs. I.P. Collins, of Olean, and two brothers, Burton V. Elliott and Edward M. Elliott, of Coudersport. Four years ago Mrs. Hoard left Mansfield to make her home with her daughter in Lyons. A prayer service conducted by Rev. Albert W. Lenz of the First Presbyterian church was held at the home of Donald V. Hoard; burial in Oakwood cemetery at Mansfield.
