William Hoard was/is my husband's 2nd great grandfather and I have had a very difficult time tracing him. So far I cannot connect him to any of the Hoards altho per a letter from his daughter, Nellie Minerva, to her husband, she refers to a Frank Hoard who was living in Michigan at the same time they were. I have traced him to be a son of Henry Hoard (son of Hezekiah b. 1784), & was related to Nellie. Nellie's mother's maiden name was Wightman (also spelled Weightman, Whitman or Whiteman). Thomas Hoard was given his mother's maiden name as his middle name. Thus Thomas Wightman Hoard. I have traced the Wightman family back to the 1500s in England but the Hoard line is stuck at William.
