There is some question as to who the mother is of Marilla (b July 1814), Emmett (b 1824) and John Milton (b 1830). The father is proven as Samuel G Hoard from the following document.
To The Surrogate of the County of Cattaraugus
The Petition of Caroline Hoard of the Town of Conewango in the County of Cattaraugus respectfully showeth That Samuel G. Hoard of the Town of Conewango in the said County of Cattaraugus died in the said town of Connewango on or about the twenty seventh day of December in the year of our Lord one thousand eight hundred and seventy four. That at the time of his death he was an inhabitant of the County of Cattaraugus. That he left no will, as far as your petitioner has heard, or been able to discover: That he left your petitioner his widow, and Franklin Hoard, Lorenzo Hoard, Anna Hoard, Emmett Hoard, Milton Hoard, Marrilla Wildey, Mary Ann Shaw -- his childen and heirs at law him surviving. That your petitioner, and said Franklin, Anna, Milton reside in the town of Conewango in said County, Emmett Hoard resides in Randolph in said County, Marrilla Wildey resides in the Town of Ellington in the County of Chautauqua, Mary Ann Shaw resides at Skaneateles in the County Onondaga. All of said children are of full age except said Anna Hoard who is an infant of the age of 17 years, That your petitioner is the widow of said deceased.
And your petitioner further showeth, that all the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased do not exceed in value the sum of three hundred Dollars: and your petitioner prays that Letter of Administration of the goods, chattels and credits of the said deceased may be granted by the Surrogate to your petitioner.
Dated: December 31, 1874 ss Caroline Hoard
