      Frank B. Sheldon 1935 2007 CHICOPEE Frank B. Sheldon, 72, of the Chicopee Falls section of Chicopee was Called Safely Home on Monday, October 1, 2007 with his loving family at his side. He was born in Addison, Vermont on March 22, 1935, a beloved son of the late Frank W. and Marion E. (Cook) Sheldon. He was raised in Port Henry, New York and moved to Chicopee in 1977, later moving to the Chicopee Falls section in 1991. He served his country in the United States Air Force during the Korean War and attained the rank of Airman First Class. He received the National Defense Service Medal and served with the data processing unit at the Strategic Air Command in Orlando, Florida. He was employed as a lab technician at the Hoffman Laboratories in Port Henry, NY. He later worked at the Yankee Hill Machine Company in Florence, MA, the Noble Manufacturing Company in Haydenville, MA, the Kollmorgen Optical Company in Northampton, MA, the Savage Arms Company in Westfield, MA and the Smith & Wesson Company in Springfield, MA. He was last employed for 27 years as a machinist at the Turbocare Industries in Chicopee and retired in 2007. Frank was very proud of his Mohawk Indian Heritage and while living in Port Henry, New York he was a member of the Golden Eagle Drum and Bugle Corps. He was a member of the Chicopee Sportsmans Club. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and enjoyed fishing and hunting with his best friends, Walter Sidello and Jason Stompski. He leaves his beloved wife, Leona Margaret "Peggy" (Hoar) Sheldon. They were married at the United Methodist Church in Port Henry, New York on January 31, 1953 and were blessed with over 54 years of happiness together. He also leaves his loving children, Stephen W. Sheldon and his wife Ann of Chicopee Falls, Kimberly R. Sheldon Smith of Chicopee Falls and Todd M. Sheldon and his wife Theresa of Suffield, CT. His three cherished grand-daughters, Jennifer, Jaime and Miranda Smith. His four cherished great grandsons, Calum, Jarod, Austin and Hayden. His dear sister and brother, Mary Wright and her husband Ralph of Mineville, NY and Jack Sheldon and his wife Nancy of Port Henry, NY and many dear nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by his dear brother, Merritt Sheldon and his twin sister, Frances Sheldon. His funeral and burial will be private at the convenience of his family. His funeral arrangements have been entrusted to the St. Pierre Phaneuf Aldenville Chapels, 13 Dale Street in Chicopee. His family has requested that memorial donations be made to the Saint Jude Children's Research Hospital, 501 Saint Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1942.
