      Alice S. (Hall) O'Connell, of Mystic died May 21, 2009 at the Groton Regency. She is survived by her husband of 58 years Neal H. O'Connell; her daughter Susan R. O'Connell of Mystic; her son Neal S. O'Connell and his wife Lawry O'Connell and grandson Neal S. O'Connell Jr. of Niantic. She will be missed by her two sisters Barbara Voorhees of Glen Arm, MD and Margaret Hoar of Pensacola, FL, her sister-in-law and brother-in-law Gail and Stanley Macbeth of Avon and Longboat Key, FL and many cherished nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by a brother-in-law, Charles Voorhees, who held a very special place in her life. Alice graduated from Elmira College in 1950 and married that same year. After five years at Travelers Insurance Company, she left to raise her family and moved to Simsbury. During this period she was a regular substitute teacher, Chairman of the Simsbury Auxiliary of Child and Family Services, a board member of Child and Family Services Central District, board member of the Greater Hartford Salvation Army, and long-term member of the Republican Town Committee. After a short stay in Glastonbury, she and her husband moved to Mystic where they have resided for the last 22 years. She loved the ocean and supported her husband, son and grandson's cruising and racing activities both ashore as well as afloat. She was a member of Baldwin, Shennecossett and Ram Island Yacht Clubs. As a member of Mystic Seaport, she spent many enjoyable hours working as an interpreter, a Pilot and on the Seaport mail team and other related projects.
      There will be no calling hours. Burial will be private. Any further activities will be announced at a later date.
