ALLAN LaVERNE HOARD
His Legacy? Age 75, died suddenly January 12, 2009. He was born
May 6, 1933 in Gregory, MI the son of the late Claude C. and Gertrude
(Barbour) Hoard. On July 26, 1958 at the first St. Mary Catholic
Church in Pinckney, Allan married his loving wife of 50 years
Catherine (nee LaPrad) Hoard. Allan was a self employed builder in
Livingston County 40 years before officially retiring in 2000. For the
last 20 years, he and wife Katie own and operated Sacred Heart of
Gregory. He was a member of St. Mary Catholic Church, the Knights
of Columbus, the St. Mary Men's Club and the Stockbridge American
Legion. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army during the
Korean War.
His Family? Loving husband of Katie, beloved father of Allan Jr. and
wife Kelly of Howell, Mark of Munith, Claudia and husband Matt
Busen of Stockbridge, Annette and husband John Pringle of Gregory
and Timothy and wife Diane of Florida, daughter in law Annette Hoard
of Gregory, dear grand father of 25 and great grandfather of 4 with 2
on the way. Additional survivors include sister; Nila Whitehead of
Gregory, brothers; Marvin (Nancy) of Pinckney, Stan (Cathy) of TN,
Vernon (Irene) of Gregory, and sisters in law; Mary Hoard of NH and
Sandy Hoard of Gregory. His son Richard and brothers Dean and
Clinton preceded him in death.
His Farewell? The family will gather with friends on Thursday from 5
to 8 PM with a Vigil Service at 7 PM, Borek Jennings Funeral Home,
Hamburg Chapel. A Healing Farewell will be held Friday, January 16,
2009 at St. Mary Catholic Church in Pinckney where the body will lie
instate from 10:00 AM with A Mass of Christian Burial at 11:00 AM
with Rev. Fr. William Wegher as Celebrant. Burial will be in St. Mary
Catholic Cemetery. Memorial contributions are suggested to St. Mary
Building Fund or Sacred Heart of Gregory. Envelopes will be
available at the funeral home.
