Margaret D. Hoar of Yonkers, a former substitute teacher in the Yonkers public school system, died Friday after a long illness. Born in Troy, N.Y., she was the daughter of
Michael and Anna Quinn Delapp. She lived most of her life in Yonkers where she attended schools. .' A graduate of the New York Teachers Training School, she also attended Columbia University. She taught school in Yonkers for many years and
was also employed as a social worker with the former Yonkers Department of Public Welfare. A communicant of St. Denis Church in Yonkers, she was a member of the Leisure Club at St. Margaret's Church in Riverdale, the Westchester Irish American Association and the Park Hill Residents Association. She served as a volunteer at St. John's Riverside Hospital and was a member of the Ladies of Charity of the Archdiocese of New York. In July 13, 1935, she was married to Thomas Hoar Sr. in St. Peter's Church in Yonkers. Her husband, a retired superintendent of Con Edison, died in 1972.
Surviving are a son, Thomas of Houston, Tex.; two daughters, Mary M. of Yonkers and Theresa Mikulka; of Virginia Beach, Va.; six sisters, Dorothy Sherman of Valatia, N.Y. Mary Hertzel. Kathleen Bashford an4 Norena Cunningham, all of Albany, N.Y., Rita Delapp of Delmar, N.Y.; and Eleanor McGowan of Wappingers Falls, N.Y.; and five grandchildren. A brother, Edward Delapp, died earlier.

COLLEYVILLE, TX -- Cathleen F. Bashford of Colleyville, TX, died May 26, 1997 at Harris Methodist Hospital in Bedford, TX after a brief illness. Born and educated in Yonkers, she resided in Albany for over 45 years before moving to Texas in 1995. She was a communicant of St. Teresa's Church in Albany. She was retired from NYNEX and was a Life Member of the Telephone Pioneers of America and an active volunteer. Mrs. Bashford was the widow of Joseph M. Bashford. She is survived by a son, Patrick M. Bashford of Bedford, TX and three sisters, Dorothy E. Sherman, Kinderhook, Rita V. Delapp, Delmar and Eleanor R. McGowan, Ocala, FL; and many nieces and nephews. She was also predeceased by a brother Edward M. Delapp and three sisters, Mary G. Hertzel, Margaret A. Hoar, and Norena B. Cunningham. A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Saturday, June 14, 1997 at 11 a.m. at St. Teresa's Church. There will be no calling hours. Interment will be at St. Joseph's Cemetery, Troy.
