Wheeler Wholesale Lumber Co. for more than 40 years. Member of St. Bridget Catholic Church. He also was an avid Green Bay Packer fan. Survivors include wife, Virginia sons, Michael (Sandy) Oar of Rockford and Bradley (Rosemary) Hoar of Elgin daughter, Christie (George Jr.) Cassioppi of Roscoe 11 grandchildren 14 great-grandchildren brothers, Edward Earl (Norma) Oar of Byron and Michael (Josephine) McConville of Phoenix sister, Magdalan Hoover of Rockford and numerous nieces and nephews. Predeceased by brothers, Charles Oar, Robert Hoar and James Hoar. Services at 9:30 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 15, in Julian-Poorman-Welte Funeral Home, 304 N. Fifth St., Rockford, with Monsignor John Mitchell of St. Bridget Catholic Church officiating. Visitation from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 14, in the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to the family for donations to Alzheimer's Association.
