Obituary:
Francis R. Miles 1920 - 2013 HOLYOKE - Francis R. "Ginty" Miles, 92, formerly of West Springfield and Southwick, passed away Thursday at The Loomis House in Holyoke. He was born in West Springfield to the late Mary (Hoar) and George Miles. Ginty was a graduate of West Springfield High School. He was a US Navy Veteran and served during World War II. Ginty worked for the US Post Office as a mailman for years, until his retirement. Prior to that he was a milk delivery man for Morley and later Sealtest. He was a communicant of St. Thomas the Apostle Church in West Springfield. He enjoyed all sports and in his later years he loved just watching and supporting the local teams. Ginty was predeceased by his beloved wife, Marguerite Miles in 2011. He was the loving father of Patricia Clapp and her husband, Arthur of Westhampton and the late James Miles who passed away in 2002. He leaves his six grandchildren and eleven great-grandchildren, his two caring brothers, Edward Miles and Donald Miles. He was predeceased by his sister, Shirley Allen and his brother, George Miles, Jr. The funeral will be 9:30 AM Tuesday at the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 Westfield St. W. Spfld., followed at 10:30 AM by a Liturgy of Christian Burial at St. Thomas the Apostle Church, 47 Pine Street. The burial will follow at St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be Monday from 4-7PM at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Ginty's name to the Alzheimer's Association MA Chapter, 480 Pleasant Street, Watertown, MA 02472
