      "Mr. Roger Conant, aged about eighty-six years, deposed that about six or eight years since, William Hoar's two daugh- ters, Mary and Elizebath came to his house to buy apples...."

      "James Browne, aged about thirty-one years, and Hannah, his wife, testified that about a month ago, Goodwife Johnson of Beverly, daughter of Goodwife Hoare, came into his shop and told him that Mr. Hale swore to have the blood or life of Margarett Lord or at least to have Margarett Lord whipped and set upon the gallows.
