      MAXINE A. LEDBETTER (HOAR/SETHER)

      Passed on Sunday, June 12, 2011. Ms. Sether, a native of Arkansas, married Friend A. Hoar in 1936, had two children, and was divorced from Mr. Hoar in the late 1950s. She subsequently married Andy R. Ledbetter. Mr. Ledbetter died after an extended illness in 1978. In 1985, Ms. Sether married Ernest Sether. Mr. Sether passed away in 2001 in Largo, FL. In 2003 she moved back to Maryland, (Riderwood Village), to be near her remaining family. Her eldest son, Friend A. Oarr Jr. died of lung cancer in 1990. Survivors include her son, Jim Oarr and his wife Phyllis; four grandchildren, Amy, David, Richard and Christopher; five great-grandchildren, Jessica, Patrick, Josephine, Brittany and Sydney. Ms. Sether retired from the federal government's Navy Department in the late 1960s. She and her second husband traveled between their homes in Maryland and Asheville, NC for several years before moving to Florida. She traveled extensively in retirement to Alaska, Hawaii, New Zealand, Australia, Hong Kong, and Norway. Viewing will be at the Cedar Hill Funeral Home at 4111 Pennsylvania Avenue, Suitland, MD on Wednesday, June 15 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. A graveside service will be held at 11 a.m. at Washington National Cemetery. People attending the graveside service should arrive at the Cedar Hill Funeral Home by 10:30 a.m. Thursday, June 16.
