Obituary:
Margaret V. Thompson 1921 - 2009 WEST SPRINGFIELD - Margaret "Peggy" V. (Lynch) Thompson, 88, passed away Tues. She was born April 5, 1921 to the late John and Vera Lynch. Peggy worked for many years at the former H.L. Handy Co. where she met the love of her life for 62 years, the late Lewis "Bud" Thompson who passed away in 2005. She was an avid bowler and loyal worshipper at the St. Jude Novena for over 40 years. Peggy lived to open her home on many occasions for gatherings with her family and friends. Her spirit and generosity allowed her to provide comfort and care for those in need. She will best be remembered for her delicious sour cream cakes that so many enjoyed. She was a communicant of St. Thomas Church and a member of the St. Thomas Women's Club. She leaves her loving children Patricia A. Hoar of Spfld., and her late son-in-law Jackie Hoar, Thomas E. and his wife Christine, Judith M. Viamari and husband David, all of W. Spfld. Peggy also leaves her cherished grandchildren; Colleen Wysocki, Catie Karlskind, John and Brian Hoar, Christopher Thompson, Megan Ringer, David and Laura Viamari; her 9 great grandchildren, whom she adored, her sister-in-law Martha Lynch, several nephews and a niece, and her good friend Mary Hourihan. She was predeceased also by her brother William "Brother" Lynch and her longtime friend Noney Lyons. Funeral services will be held SAT. 9 AM from the TOOMEY-O'BRIEN FUNERAL HOME, 1043 WESTFIELD ST., followed by a 10 AM Liturgy of Christian Burial in St. Thomas Church, 47 Pine St. Burial will follow in St. Thomas Cemetery. Calling hours will be held FRI. from 4 to 8 PM. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to the Western Mass Hospital, 100th Anniversary Fund, 91 E. Mountain Rd., Westfield, MA 01085 or to the Sisters of St. Joseph's, c/o Development Office, 34 Lower Westfield Rd., Holyoke, MA 01040. The family would like to especially thank the entire staff of the Western Mass. Hospital for their compassionate and loving care of our mother for the past 4 years.
