Sir Edmond was a cultured man and a patron of the arts. In 1612 Henry Peacham dedicated his treatise on drawing, Graphice, to him, noting Sir Edmond's support for scholarship and his hospitality at Chesham: he was "the worthiest patron of all learning and excellency
