Mr. Hoard died in the Willamette Valley Medical Center in McMinnville on Sunday, Aug. 7, 2005. He was 92.
Born in Hillsboro, on Nov. 23, 1912, he was the son of Ira and Nellie Sable (Bagley) Hoard. He graduated from Lincoln High School in Portland in 1937 and married Ruby M. Bennette in Hillsboro on June 5, 1939.

Upon his retirement in the mid-1980s, he and his wife moved to a place just off the Siletz River in Lincoln City. After spending many years honing his salmon fishing skills, he relocated to McMinnville in 1994.

Those who knew him best will remember him as a true gentleman and, equally importantly, gentle man, the family said.
He is survived by his wife. Contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, P.O. Box 1131, Fairfax, VA 22038-1131.
