      Obituary:
      March 3, 2012 Edwin J. Wells, 88, of Phoenix, NY, was united with his loving wife, Elaine Norma (Fields), in heaven on Saturday in Oswego. Born September 5, 1923, in Oswego to the late Mabel (Horr) and Edward Wells, Ed was also predeceased by his three sisters, Ethel Meeker, Ella Pelkey and Doris Wells, and a brother, Richard Wells. Ed was a kind-hearted, good-natured man with the ablility to make everyone smile. He was a member of D-Company, 29th Infantry, Oswego, during WW II; a valued 52-year member of the Phoenix Vol. Fire Dept.; and a 30-year firefighter at G.E. Co., Syracuse, retiring in 1986. Also a member VFW Post 5540 and American Legion Post 418, Phoenix. Surviving are his two sons, Edward (Sandy) Wells of Genoa and Daniel (Joan) Wells of Central Square; one daughter, Deneen (Michael) Sufnar of Fort Walton Beach, FL; a sister, Lillian Murray of Oswego; eight grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; and several nieces, nephews and in-laws. Calling hours are 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. Friday, March 9, 2012, at Allanson-Glanville-Tappan Funeral Home, Phoenix. Services are 10 a.m. Saturday in the funeral home, 431 Main St. Burial with firefighter honors will follow in Phoenix Rural Cemetery.
