      HOLYOKE - Joan M. (Provost) Evans, age 75, of Kennebunk, Maine, formerly of Holyoke, died on Friday, May 20, 2011 at her home. She was born in New York City on May 17, 1936, daughter of the late Harold and Mary "Mae" (Connolly) Provost. Joan moved to Holyoke as a young girl and was educated in the St. Jerome Schools. She was a 1953 graduate of St. Jerome High School, and a 1971 graduate of Dean Vocational School of Nursing. Joan was a communicant of the St. Martha Catholic Church of Holy Family Parish in Kennebunk, ME. She leaves her devoted and loving husband of 55 years, John B. Evans, and six loving children, Lynn Hoar of Easthampton, MA, Mark Evans of New Windsor, NY, Laura Brunelle of Holyoke, Janice George of St. Petersburg, FL, David Evans of Roswell, GA, and Michael Evans of Holyoke. She also leaves behind 12 loving grandchildren, 5 great grandchildren, and many loving nieces and nephews. Besides her parents, Joan was predeceased by a brother Harold Provost of Springfield and a sister Alice Theriault of Holyoke. The Funeral will be held on Saturday at 8:30 a.m. from the Barry J. Farrell Funeral Home, 2049 Northampton Street, Holyoke, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 9:30 a.m. in Blessed Sacrament Church in Holyoke. Burial will follow in St. Jerome Cemetery. Calling hours will be held on Friday from 4:00 to 7:00 p.m. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society, 30 Speen Street, Framingham, MA 01701.
