  [[Ida Verle Nelson, 86 of Castana, Iowa, died Wednesday, Mar 1, 1995, at Horn Memorial Hosptial in Ida Grove, Iowa. Mrs. Nelson was born September 22, 1908, in Franklin Township near Onawa, Iowa, the daughter of Charlie and Effie (Gross) Hoar. On April 24, 1925 she married James Wesley Breed in Onawa. The couple had three daughters. James died in 1956 in Castana. She worked in the Turin telephone office from May 1956 until Sept 1961. On September 27, 1961, she married Raymond Nelson in Onawa. The couple farmed at Castana. She had been a resident of willow Dale Nursing Home in Battle Creek since May 1988. Survivors include her husband, Raymond, three daughters, Elsie Kemp of Knoxville, Iowa, Ruth and her husband, Tim Walsh of St. Clair, Mo and Donna and her husband, Robert Belew of Lonedell, Mo. a stepdaughter and her husband, Joyce and Melvin Larson of Wells, Minnesota, 12 grandchildren, 6 step grandchildren, 19 great grandchildren, three sisters, Flora Kelly of Onawa, Iowa, Eva Anderson of Mapleton, Iowa, and Stella Vinson of Portland Oregon, a brother George Hoar of Blencoe, Iowa and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents and a sister Mable Anderson
