    John Alonzo Howe was a son of Alonzo Howe of Poultney, Vt., born July 11, 1797, died April 15, 1866. He married November 15, 1825, Elizabeth Horr, born September 2, 1799, died January 20, 1892, a descendant of Benjamin Warren, a near relative of Gen. Joseph Warren, who fell at Bunker Hill.

    Alonzo married Elizabeth Hoar on 25 Nov 1824 in Lansingburg, Rensselaer Co, New York, USA. Elizabeth (daughter of Peter Hoar and Eusebia Warren) was born on 2 Sep 1799 in Littleton, Middlesex Co, Massachusetts, USA; died on 20 Jan 1892 in Poultney, Rutland Co, Vermont, USA; was buried in East Poultney, Rutland Co, Vermont, USA (East Poultney Cemetery).     Zebudiah Dewey, (1726-1804), commanded a company at the battle of Hubbardton, wnere he gained the rank of major. He was born in Barrington, Mass.; died in Poultney, Vt.
    John Howe was placed on the pension roll of Rutland Co., Vt., 1818, for service of private in the Massachusetts Line. He was born, in 1763, in New Marlboro, Mass.
