Page 3: "Subsequent researches in England by Col. Charles E. Banks have
established beyond question that the emigrant Henry Adams was a native of Barton St. David, Somersetshire and that at least three generations of his ancestors resided in this parish for over a century prior to his emigration to New England in 1638."

Page 34: HENRY (1) ADAMS, the senior of this line in America, was among the early settlers. In 1641, he was granted by the town of Boston forty acres in what afterwards became Braintree. As the custom prevailed to grant four acres per head to a family, it is judged that Henry Adams had a wife and eight children. He was buried at Braintree, now Quincy, MA, 8 Oct. 1646. His will was probated in June, 1647, and names five sons and one daughter, vix.:
Peter, John, JOSEPH, Edward, Samuel and Ursula. The will is printed in the New England Historical and Genealogical Register, 7 Jan. 1853, vol. vii., p. 35. Three other sons, well known, were not mentioned in the will.

ii. Thomas, b. 1612 in England, settled at Chelmsford, d. 1688.
iii. Samuel, b. 1617 in England, settled at Chelmsford, d. 1666.

vi. John, b. 1624 in England, setted at Cambridge, d. 1706.
vii. JOSEPH, b. 1626 in England, remained at Braintree, d. 1694.
viii. Edward, b. 1630; settled at Medfield, d. 1716.
ix. Ursula; unknown beyond her father's will.

Henry married Edith Squire on 19 Oct 1609 in Charlton Mackrell(adjoining par to B.St. S). Edith (daughter of Henry Squire) was born on 29 May 1587 in (bpt) Charlton Mackrell,Somersetshire,ENG; died in 1673 in Braintree,, MA. [Group Sheet]
