    Gertrude Elmore, 96, of Honesdale, PA, formerly of Damascus, PA, a retired Teachers Aide, and longtime resident of the area, died Thursday, September 23, 2010 at Wayne Woodland Manor, Waymart, PA. The Daughter of the late William and Ora Bodie Hoar, she was born September 19, 1914 in Haines, PA. Gertrude was married for 61 years to the late Larue J. Elmore who passed January 12, 1997.
    She was a member of the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church. She played the organ for over 40 years in the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church and Abrahamsville United Methodist Church. She attended Peckville Assembly of God Church, Peckville, PA. She was a member of the Upper Delaware Heritage Alliance, Damascus PTA, and the Damascus Manor United Methodist Church Ladies Auxiliary. She attended bible study at Nolua Dexter's.
    A family statement reads "Gertrude was a loving wife and mother. She enjoyed and was a very talented painter. She loved to vacation the New England States and Canada with her family. She was active in raising bassett hounds and participating in field trials and dog shows. She was very committed to everything that she did and was blessed that god was in life. She will greatly be missed."
    Survivors include her son, David Elmore, and his wife Barbara, of Davenport, N.Y., her daughter, Joan Elmore, of Honesdale, PA. Special friend Betty Hedden of Honesdale, PA. Gertrude is predeceased by her brother, Clyde Hoar, and two sisters, LaVerne Hoar and Maybert Busko.
    A Memorial Service will be held at a later date to be announced at Damascus Manor United Methodist Church, 1720 Cochecton Turnpike, Damascus, PA 18415.
    Internment of the cremains will in Tusten Settlement Cemetery , Narrowsburg, NY.

    Deceased Name: David B. Elmore 69, of Davenport
    David B. Elmore, 69, of Davenport passed away on Friday, January 14, 2011 at his home with Barbara at his side. Born May 8, 1941 in Honesdale, PA, he was the son of the late Larue and Gertrude (Hoar) Elmore of Damascus, PA.
    He graduated from Damascus High School in 1959 and from Millersville University in 1963. He taught Industrial Arts/Technology at Charlotte Valley Central School from 1963 until his retirement in 1989. He was Past President and member of the Charlotte Valley Teachers Association; Past President, Treasurer and member of the Board of Directors of Catskill Forest Association; Treasurer of the former Davenport Water Company and he is an Eagle Scout.
    He enjoyed raising, training and competing basset hounds in field trials for 30 years.
    Dave was a steward of the land and planted thousands of trees in his lifetime.
    While not a farmer himself, he bemoaned the passing of so many family dairy farms.
    He raised cultivated blueberries and made many blue bird houses. He enjoyed riding his bicycle on the Pinellas trail in Florida and kayaking on his pond in Davenport.
    He is survived by his loving wife of 28 years, Barbara (Empey) Elmore his sister, Miss Joan Elmore of Honesdale, PA; and by his in law family, Ken and Jacque Empey of Cullen, NY, Susan Stetson of West Oneonta and Michael Empey also of West Oneonta.
    A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, 11:00 AM at the Charlotte Valley Presbyterian Church with Reverend Carol Wilson, Pastor of the church, officiating.
    Interment will be held in the spring at Crain Memorial Cemetery, Cullen, NY.
