    Hoar, Dorothea E.
    Of Quincy, formerly of Winchester and West Concord. February 6, 2013 in her 99th year. Daughter of the late William V. P. and Mary E. (Byrne) Hoar. Sister of the late Catherine P. Gallagher. Aunt of Sally Gallagher Cotter and her husband, Richard, of Stow and Marcia Gallagher Brennan and her husband, Phil, of Weymouth; great-aunt of Julie Cotter Bartlett and Jennifer Brennan Smith, Brendan Cotter, Brian Cotter and Marc Brennan; also survived by 14 great grand nieces and nephews. Family and friends will gather to honor and remember Dot's life on Tuesday, Feb. 12th by gathering for a calling hour from 10 to 11 a.m in Saint Eulalia Church, 50 Ridge Street, Winchester followed by her Funeral Mass being celebrated at 11 a.m. Burial will follow in Wildwood Cemetery, Winchester. Memorials in her name may be made to William B. Rice Eventide Home, 215 Adams Street, Quincy, 02169 in appreciation and gratitude for all their help and kindness.     Miss Dorothea E. Hoar, of Quincy, formerly of West Concord and Winchester, died Wednesday, February 6, 2013 in the William B. Rice Eventide Home. She was 99.
    Dorothea, known to her family lovingly as "Aunt Dot" was born on April 9, 1913 in Boston a daughter of the late William V. and Mary E. (Byrne) Hoar. Dorothea graduated from Girls' Latin School in 1931 and then earned her Bachelor of Arts Degree from Emmanuel College in 1935. She later earned her Master's degree from Boston State College. She lived in Winchester many years and later in West Concord before moving to Quincy in 2009.
    She was a longtime biology teacher at Regis College, St. Joseph at Emmitsburg, Maryland and later in the Boston Public School system.
    Her hobbies and interests included reading, gardening, painting, bird watching, cooking and the company of her family. Though not blessed with children her nieces and their families she thought of as her own.
    In addition to her parents she is predeceased by her sister, Catherine M. Gallagher.
    She leaves her nieces, Sally Gallagher Cotter and her husband, Richard, of Stow and Marcia Gallagher Brennan and her husband, Phil, of Weymouth; her great nieces & nephews, Julie Cotter Bartlett and Jennifer Brennan Smith, Brendan Cotter, Brian Cotter and Marc Brennan; also survived by 14 great grand nieces and nephews.
