    Maxine (Keyes) Hoar, 79, of Worcester, formerly of Oxford, passed away on Saturday, August 6, 2011, in The Lutheran Healthcare Center.

    She is survived by a daughter, Debra Baumgartner and her husband John of Thompson, CT; a brother, Clyde Keyes of Deltona, Florida; five granddaughters; many nieces and nephews. She was pre-deceased by two daughters, Kathleen Johnson in 2009 and Cynthia Hoar in 2002, a granddaughter, Kaitlyn Covington as well as a brother, Richard Keyes and two sisters, Rachel Haskell and Phyllis Blais. Maxine was born in Worcester, daughter of the late Bert and Mildred (Cook) Keyes. She graduated from the former Worcester High School of Commerce and later settled in Oxford, before returning to Worcester, several years ago.

    Maxine worked in the billing department at UMass, before she retired. She had previously been a switchboard operator for New England Electric Company. She was a member and Past President of The Emerald Club. She enjoyed BINGO and was an enthusiastic Red Sox fan.

    There are no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will be held privately in North Cemetery, Oxford.

    NORTHBORO Richard B. Keyes, 84, of 169 South St. died April 29th at St. Vincent Hospital in Worcester after an illness.
    He leaves his wife of 55 years, Virginia E. (Cartier) Keyes; three daughters, Christine Keyes of Ft. Lauderdale, FL; Jacqueline Renaud of Leominster; Marilyn Ellis of Shrewsbury; a son, Robert Keyes of Northboro; a brother, Clyde Keyes of Deltona, FL; a sister, Maxine Hoar of Oxford; nieces and nephews. He is predeceased by a son, Michael Keyes. Born in Worcester, son of Bert and Mildred (Cook) Keyes, he lived in Northboro since 1959. Mr. Keyes worked as a salesman for the former Sawyer Lumber Co. in Worcester, for many years. He was a Purple Heart recipient during WW II. Mr. Keyes served in the 29th Infantry Division and landed on Omaha Beach on D Day.
    A memorial mass will be celebrated Thursday, May 6th at 10:00 a.m. in St. Mary's Church, 640 Main St. Shrewsbury. Burial of ashes will follow in Howard St. Cemetery, Northboro. Memorial donations may be made to Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 495 Old Connecticut Path Framingham, MA 01701.

    AUBURN - Phyllis M. (Keyes) Blais, 75, of 3 Charles St., a longtime insurance worker and church volunteer, died Wednesday at home after an illness.
    She leaves her husband of 52 years, Paul J. Blais; a son, Bruce P. Blais of Webster; a daughter, Beverly A. Chaffee of Buffalo, Wyo.; two brothers, Richard Keyes of Northboro and Clyde Keyes of Deltona, Fla.; two sisters, Rachel Haskell of Shrewsbury and Maxine Hoar of Oxford; two grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Southbridge, daughter of Bert and Mildred (Cook) Keyes and lived here 34 years. She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester, in 1942.
    Mrs. Blais worked at Hanover Insurance Co. in Worcester for 14 years, retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Joseph's Church and a volunteer for many years at its thrift shop. She was a member of West Boylston Post 6907, Veterans of Foreign Wars Auxiliary.
    The funeral will be held Monday from Britton-Wallace Funeral Home, 91 Central St., with a Mass at 10 a.m. in St. Joseph's Church, 189 Oxford St. Burial will be in Hillside Cemetery. Calling hours are 3 to 6 p.m. tomorrow at the funeral home. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Joseph's Church, Building Fund, 194 Oxford St., Auburn, MA 01501.

    SHREWSBURY -- Rachel E. (Keyes) Haskell, 81, of 21 Spruce St., died Saturday, Aug. 31, in UMass Memorial Medical Center -- University Campus, Worcester.
    Her husband, Frederick S. Haskell, died in 1982. She leaves two sons, Frederick K. Haskell of Westboro and David P. Haskell of North Grafton; a daughter, Virginia J. Schotte of Sun City, Ariz.; two brothers, Richard Keyes of Northboro and Clyde Keyes of Deltona, Fla.; a sister, Maxine Hoar of Oxford; four grandchildren; five great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces. She was born in Worcester, daughter of Bert and Mildred E. (Cook) Keyes, and lived in Shrewsbury most of her life. She graduated from Commerce High School, Worcester.
    Mrs. Haskell was a laboratory technician for Mason Research Institute, Worcester, retiring many years ago. She was a member of First Congregational Church, Ray Stone Post Women's Auxiliary, and the Shrewsbury Business Women's Club.
    The funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in Howard C. Allen Funeral Home, 653 Main St. Burial will be private in Rural Cemetery, Worcester. A calling hour is 10 to 11 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 3, in the funeral home. Donations may be made to the First Congregational Church Remembrance Fund, 19 Church Road, Shrewsbury, MA 01545.

    Kathleen M. (Hoar) Johnson, 53, of Worcester passed away, November 30, 2009 in Saint Vincent's Hospital.

    Kathleen is survived her husband of eighteen years, Stephen P. Johnson; two daughters, Miranda Gomes of Ashland, Megan (Gomes) Castillo and her husband Jason of Millbury; a sister, Debra Baumgartner and her husband John of Thompson, CT. She is predeceased by a sister Cynthia Hoar whom passed away in December of 2002. Kathleen was born in Worcester and has lived here and in Oxford her whole life. She graduated from Oxford High School.

    Kathleen worked as a Sous Chef for the Worcester Art Museum. She loved her dog, Oliver and her cat, Thomas. She also liked crafts and cooking, helping others and was a huge fan of Rod Stewart. She will be greatly missed by her family and friends.

    No funeral services are being planned according to Kathleen's wishes. MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester are assisting the family with arrangements.

    She is survived by her longtime companion Paul Covington with whom she lived; two daughters Alicia and Kaitlyn Covington both at home;two sisters, Debra Baumgartner of Thompson, CT and Kathy Johnson of Worcester.     Kaitlyn Ann Covington, age 6, of Scrimgeour Road, in Worcester, passed away, Tuesday, March 20, 2006, in her home, surrounded by her loving parents and family. Her mom, Cynthia (Hoar) Covington, preceded her in death. She is survived by her father and step-mother, Paul "Cujo" Covington and Karen Ovitt; a sister, Alicia Covington all with whom she lived. She also leaves her brother, Brian Covington in California; two step-brothers, Timothy and Christopher Ovitt, both of Worcester; another sister, Misty Smith of Worcester; and a step-sister, Amanda Bucciaglia of Spencer; her maternal grandmother, Maxine Hoar of Oxford; her paternal grandmother, Shirley (John) Covington of Worcester; and her step-grandparents Roger and Jeanette Plante of West Brookfield. She also leaves her caregiver and friend, Debbie Medina; many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
    Friends are invited to gather with Kaitlyn's family, for a time of visiting and remembrance, on Friday, March 23, from 5 p.m. until 8 p.m. in MERCADANTE FUNERAL HOME & CHAPEL, 370 Plantation Street, Worcester. Interment services will be held privately.

    Megan M. (Gomes) Castillo, 35, of Millbury, passed away on Saturday, June 30, 2012 in Brigham and Women's Hospital in Boston. Megan is survived by her loving husband of nearly three years, Jason Castillo; her father, Michael A. Gomes of Hattiesburg, Mississippi; a sister, Miranda Gomes-White and her husband Brian of Ashland; her cat, Scooby and her dog, Tyler; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and many friends. Megan was born in Hampton, Virginia, daughter of the late Kathleen (Hoar) Johnson. She graduated from Oxford High School and Worcester State College. She worked as a medical assistant for Tri-County Medical Associates. Megan loved the beach, music and being with her friends and family. She would often remind her husband that she played on the Oxford High School Basketball Team that won two state championships.
