    Robert C. Hoar, 92, of Port Washington, died March 29, 2012. Born in Norwood, MA, in 1919 to Walter and Dorothy Hoar, he graduated from Millis High School, and served with the U.S. Navy Seabees in the Pacific during WWII. He was associated with Browne and Sharpe, a Rhode Island based machine tool manufacturer, for his entire career. He was an active member of the Little Neck Bay Power Squadron for more than 50 years and the American Legion. He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Margaret Ethel Mahoney Hoar, and his sister, Joanne Andrews, as well as his children, Kathleen and William Finnerty, William and Phyllis Hoar, Pamela Hoar, and daughter-in-law Gail Kennedy Hoar. He was predeceased by his son James Hoar, sisters, Shirley Hoar and Patricia Spirito and brothers and sisters-in-law, John and Margaret, Thomas and Catherine and George Mahoney. He is also survived by grandchildren, Karen, Meaghan, Michael and Thomas Finnerty, Robert, Margaret and Catherine Hoar and Patrick, Brian, and Melissa Kennedy, and his nieces, nephews, grand-nieces and grand-nephews. Funeral arrangements were handled by Austin F. Knowles Funeral Home, Port Washington. A Mass of Christian Burial was celebrated April 2 at St. Peter of Alcantara RC Church. The interment followed at Nassau Knolls Cemetery. Donations in Bob's memory may be sent to the Port Washington Fire Department, Fire Medic Company #1 or to the Disabled War Veterans.

    Millis - Shirley Hoar, 85, a lifelong resident of Millis, died Monday, April 7, 2008, at Whitney Place in Natick.
    Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Walter W. and Dorothy (Clark) Hoar. She was educated in the Millis Public School system and graduated with the class of 1940 before attending comptometer school in Boston.
    She is survived by two sisters, Joanne Andrews of Millis and Patricia Spirito of Lynn; a brother Robert C. Hoar of Port Washington, N.Y.; and many nephews, nieces, grandnephews, and grandnieces.
    Funeral services were held Saturday, April 12, at the Church of Christ, 142 Exchange St.
    Arrangements were under the direction of Roberts-Mitchell Funeral Home, 90 Curve St.
    Memorial contributions may be made to the Church of Christ Memorial Fund, 142 Exchange St., Millis, MA 02054.

    Mrs. Patricia H. Spirito, age 76 years, of Lynn, died Thursday at Union Hospital, as a result of injuries sustained in a car accident. She was the wife of the late Frank J. Spirito, who died this past July, with whom she shared 44 years of marriage.
    Born in Framingham, she was the daughter of the late Walter and Dorothy A. (Clark) Hoar. She attended Millis schools, and graduated from Millis High School, Class of 1950.
    She served in the U. S. Air Force, Airman First Class, active duty from 1960 - 1962, and in the Air Force Reserves until she retired in 1982 at the rank of Master Sergeant. Mrs. Spirito was employed as a supervisor in the Engineering Department at New England Telephone, in Saugus until she retired in 1986.
    She was a member of the First Church of Christ in Lynn, Congregational, the Telephone Pioneers, the GLCAA bowling league. She was a volunteer usher at North Shore Music Theater, she volunteered in the Veterans Administration office at City Hall in Lynn, and at Our Lady of the Assumption Church in Lynnfield. She was a warden for elections at Shoemaker School. Mrs. Spirito enjoyed knitting, reading, walking the beach, and bowling.
    She is survived by one brother Robert Hoar of Port Washington, NY, one sister Joanne Andrews of Millis, and many nieces and nephews. She was also sister of the late Shirley Hoar.
    Service Details: Her funeral will be held at the First Church of Christ in Lynn 678 Lynnfield St. on Monday at 11:00 AM to which relatives and friends are invited to attend. Cremation will follow in Harmony Grove Cemetery. Visiting hours are at the Parker Funeral Home, 35 Franklin St. on Sunday from 2:00 - 6:00 PM.     James Clark Hoar, 44, a former resident of Winnetka, died suddenly of a heart attack on Dec. 29 in his home in Brookline, Mass.
    Mr. Hoar was a native of Port Washington, N.Y. and attended St. Peter of Alcantara Elementary School and St. Mary's High School in Manhasset before graduating from Fordham University and Hofstra School of Law.
    Prior to becoming a corporate counsel for Ameriking in Chicago, he served as an attorney with Boston Market and Burger King. Eventually he moved to New England where he became a development counsel with Panera LLC in Needham, Mass.
    Survivors include his wife, Gail Kennedy Hoar; two sons, Patrick Hoar and Brian Hoar; a daughter, Melissa Hoar; his parents, Robert and Margaret Hoar of Port Washington; a brother, William (Phyllis) Hoar; two sisters, Kathleen (William) Finnerty and Pamela Hoar; his father and mother-in-law, Thomas and Lorraine Kennedy of Port Washington; his brother-in-law, Glenn (Marianne) Kennedy; and seven nieces and nephews. Services were held in Port Washington, N.Y.
