    2. William (2) Weeden (James-1) was baptized 30 May 1619 at Chesham, Bucks Co, England, son of James Weeden (bapt 1585) and Phillipa Cocke (bapt. 1587/8). He probably accompanied his father James who came to America in 1638 on the ship "Martin." He was a member of the First Baptist Church in Newport 12 Oct 1648. On 29 No 1676 Samuel Hubbard wrote of William Weeden's having been killed by the Indians in King Phillip's Was. According to a secondary source, he married Abigail Bailey who was born about 1623. Austin notes that possibly one or two of those children assigned as his sons may have been grandsons, and sons of William (3).

    5) Jeremiah, b. ca 1653; d. 1756 according to Autsin; m (1) Mary Clarke b ca 1668 dau of Jeremiah Clarke (b 1643) & Ann Audley (ba 1647); m (2) Sarah Clarke b ca 1677 sister of Mary. On 17 Sep 1719 Jeremiah Weeden received a deed from his father-in-law Jeremiah Clarke for land in Providence providing for annual payments to Jeremiah Clarke of his wife Ann during their lives. In the "History of the Baptists in R.I." published in "R.I. Historical Collections" Vol. 6 p. 336-337 it is stated that the Second Church of Newport in Farewell street "... originated in 1665 when the following persons broke off from the First Church of Newport:... Jeremiah Weeden..." Assuming this Jeremiah Weeden to have been at least 21 to have broken off, then he would have been born 1644 or before. This taken with Austin's death date of 1756 leaves unresolved questions."

    # 89 John was a barber and served as a private in Captain David Wheeler's Co., Col. John Brown's Reg. in 1777. He moved to Lanesboro, MA in 1733 with his brother John where they both had fine farms. In 1786, he was moving to Killington, VT when he died on the journey. He married --- 1755 Lucretia Newhall, dau. of Samuel and Martha (Upham) Newhall. b. 2 Jan 1739, d. --- , m (2) Jessie Mason.

    All children were born in Lanesboro. Margaret was the 6th child of 12.
