Betty Anne Shokey
March 6, 1939-April 18, 2009
Betty Anne Shokey, a resident of Boring, died Saturday, April 18, at her home at age 70.
A funeral Mass will be held at 11 a.m. Wednesday, April 22, at St. Michael's Catholic Church, 18090 S.E. Langensand Road, Sandy. Burial will follow at Forest Lawn Cemetery, 400 S.W. Walters Drive, Gresham.
Betty was born March 6, 1939, in Gresham to Joseph and Grace (Hoar) Leber. She graduated from Gresham High School in 1957 and attended beauty school in Portland. She worked as a beautician for a time before moving to Hawaii.
Betty met Julian "Sandy" Shokey in Hawaii where he was stationed in the Navy. They were married Sept. 30, 1961, in Gresham at St. Henry Catholic Church. They moved to New York and started a family. They moved back to Oregon and settled in Boring in 1971.
Betty was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church since 1971. She enjoyed sewing, crocheting, baking and volunteering at the church and at the senior center.
Survivors include her husband; daughters, Janna Kampen of Anchorage, Alaska, and Denise Cummins of Lebanon; sisters, Mae McCormick and Carol Shokey of Sandy; brothers, Robert Leber of Springfield and John Leber of Milton-Freewater; and three grandchildren.
Memorial contributions can be made to the American Cancer Society, 0330 S.W. Curry St., Portland, 97239; or to the St. Michael's Building Fund, 18090 S.E. Langensand Road, Sandy, 97055.

Obituary:
Christie Hoar, 59, our special daughter, sister, aunt, cousin, friend, and teacher, passed away, Sunday, September 25, 2005, from complications due to cancer. She was born January 4, 1946, in Salt Lake City, the daughter of Vern Robert and Veneta Durrant Hoar. Christie was an active member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, serving as President of the Primary, Young Women, and Relief Society auxiliaries. She taught school at John C. Fremont Elementary for 37 years, where she influenced many young people to be the best they could be. She was currently teaching grandchildren of some of her original students. Recognized as a top teacher in Who's Who of American Teachers, nominated for this special honor by one of her students. Christie was active in the community and in various organizations involving children. Will be greatly missed by all who knew her. Survived by her mother, Veneta; brothers, Brent (Milly) and Robert C. (Linda); and sister, Penny (Dennis) Neumann. Funeral services will be Thursday, September 29, 2005, at the Riverside Ward L.D.S. Church, 1100 West 500 North at 11:00 am. Viewing at the same location on Wednesday, September 28, 2005, from 6-8 PM, and again on Thursday for one hour just prior to services. Interment at Lake Hills Memorial Park in Sandy. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation in Christie's name to Fremont Elementary, 4249 Atherton, Taylorsville, UT 84123. Arrangements by SereniCare, Funeral Directors.

Born Sept 24, 1962 in Salt Lake City to J. Brent Hoar and Emily L. "Lee" Eckersley. He married Mary Glore, later divorced. Mark worked as a Jeep Parts Salesman for Mepco Jeep Supply.
He loved Jeeps, four-wheeling, and the mountains.
Survived by sons, Robbie Hoar and David Welch; daughter, Danyell Larsen; fiance, Teri Middleton; parents, J. Brent and Milly Hoar; Lee and Tom Franks; four grandsons; sister, Wendie Triplett; a very special brother, Michael; grandmother, Veneta Hoar; and stepbrothers and stepsisters.
