Andrew Tracy Hanson, father of Willis T. Hanson, president of the Union National bank of Schenectady, and of James Howard Hanson of this city, died suddenly this morning at his home, No. 891 Union street, Schenectady.
Mr. Hanson partook of breakfast at 7: 30 o'clock, and after the meal started to walk out on a side porch. There he was stricken and died before medical aid could be summoned. Heart trouble was the cause of death.
Today Is the 80th anniversary of Mr. Hanson's birth. He was born at Stowe, Vermont, August 2, 1826. He was descended on his father's side from the noted Hoar family. In his early boyhood days his parents moved to Salem. Mass., where he was educated.
When a young man he went to New York and became forcmnn of a large sash and blind factory. In 1867. owing to falling health, he was obliged to leave New York, and he went to Stockbrldge, Mass., where he lived on a farm. He remained In the Berkshlres five years, and In 1872 he went to Schenectady, where he took charge of a sash and blind factory. In 1875 he entered tho wholesale leather business, and this he continued
until 1888.
In 1855 he was united in marriage to Miss Anna Johnson, of Schenectady
who survives him. They had six children, namely: Mrs. Charles T. 8now of Brooklyn, Mrs. Lansing DeForest Gates and Mrs. Kate Barhydt of Schenectady. Willis T. Hanson, president of the Union National bank and head of Dr. Williams' medicine concorn, H. A. Hanson, also of Schenectady, and James Howard Hanson, of the law firm of Nisbet & Hanson, of this city.
Mr. Hanson has been living A retired life, and was a member of the State street Methodist church. The funeral will be hold at the residence Saturday afternoon at 2:30 o'clock, the RevT F. W. Adams, pastor of the State street Methodist church officiating.
Interment, which will be private, will be In Vale cemetery.
