  [[ Obituary: David Wright Rives, 55, of North Haverhill, N.H., died Sept. 5, 2008, at his residence following a two year battle with cancer. He was born in Barton, Vt., April 1, 1953, a son of Wright Eliott and Majorie Ruth (Hoar) Rives. He was a graduate of Lake Region High School in Orleans, Vt., and attended Vermont Technical College in Randolph, Vt. He married Kathleen Wheeler on June 21, 1975. Together they owned and operated the former Hannah's Hallmark Store in Littleton, N.H., and he was previously employed for 18 years with the Butson Family Supermarket chain based in Woodsville, N.H. David was a member of Calvary Baptist Church in Woodsville. Music played a large role in David's life. He enjoyed listening to music and playing his guitar. David was a sports fan, especially of golf and football. He was known to be an avid fan of the New York Giants. David's spirited personality was represented in his sense of humor, and he took great pleasure spending time with his children and grandchildren. Survivors include his wife of 33 years, Kathleen (Wheeler) Rives of North Haverhill, their children Samuel D. Rives and wife Leah of San Marcos, Calif., Hannah R. Bingham and husband Daniel of Aurora, Ill., and Josiah W. Rives and wife Karianne of North Haverhill; four grandchildren Violet and Wright Rives, Derek Bingham and Chloe Rives; one sister Mary LaBranche of Shelton, Conn., two brothers Christopher Rives of Stuttgart, Germany, and Richard Rives of San Antonio, Texas; one aunt, and several nieces, nephews and cousins. Calling hours will be on Monday, Sept. 8, from 6 to 8 p.m. at Ricker Funeral Home, 1 Birch St., Woodsville, NH. The funeral service will be on Tuesday, Sept. 9, at 1 p.m. at Calvary Baptist Church, 20 Elm St., with Pastor Dan Chamberland, officiating.
