Hoard will be conducted from the First Baptist Church in Oxford, Nebraska on Monday, July 12, 2010 at 2:00 p.m. with Pastor Dave Hunt, officiating. Interment will be held in the Oxford Cemetery with military honors provided by the Oxford American Legion Post #219 in conjunction with the United States Army National Guard Military Honors Team. Keith Orville Hoard, 81 years of age, of Oxford, Nebraska, passed away on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the Harlan County Health Systems in Alma, Nebraska. Keith was born on March 9, 1929 at Minneapolis, Kansas the 9th of 14 children born to Andrew and Minnie (Smith) Hoard. He attended school at Miltonville and other towns in north central Kansas. Keith was inducted into the U. S. Army on June 7, 1951 and served his country during the Korean War until his honorable discharge on May 1, 1953. He was awarded the Korean Services medal with 2 bronze service stars and the United Nations Service Medal. On October 3, 1951, Keith was united in marriage to Mona Arlene Mohler at Mankato, Kansas and to this union eight children were born: five daughters: Elaine, Wanda, Carla, Glenda and Vickie and three sons: Daniel, Rodney and Bradley. Keith was employed as a detailer at Beardmore's Chevrolet Dealership in Mankato, Kansas, and later transferred to Beardmore's in Oxford. He was then employed as an auto body repairman at Robertson Chevrolet in Oxford. In 1971, he began working at Becton-Dickinson in Holdrege until his retirement in 1994. Keith was a member of the First Baptist Church in Oxford. He enjoyed traveling with his wife, spending time with his children and grandchildren, gardening, especially his Hibiscus plants, and loved to hunt and fish. Besides his parents, Keith was preceded in death by four brothers: Charles Hoard, Elmer Hoard, Earl Hoard, Harry Lee Hoard; two sisters: Ethel Mikesell, Junelda Dillon; three sister-in-laws: Ruth Hoard, Barbara Hoard, Avis Hoard; seven brothers-in-law: Dale Olsen, Ray Howell, Warren Taylor, Charles Mikesell, Virgil Mohler and his wife, Ada, Leland Turner and Duane Wiley; one son-in-law: Randy Brink and father-in-law and mother-in-law: Harold and Sylvia Mohler. He leaves to mourn his passing his wife, Mona of Oxford; children: Elaine Hopkins and her husband, Steve of Holdrege, Wanda Foster and her husband, Dale of Oxford, Carla Herrick of Lexington, Nebraska, Glenda Hamilton and her husband, Ed of Oxford, Vickie Foster and her husband, Bob of Holdrege, Daniel Hoard and his wife, Kate of St. Francis, Kansas, Rodney Hoard and his wife, Sandi of Alma, Nebraska, Bradley Hoard and his wife, Silvia of Merna, Nebraska; 29 grandchildren; 36 great-grandchildren; 5 step-grandchildren; 10 step-great-grandchildren; three brothers: Andy Hoard, Jr. of Smith Center, Kansas, Floyd Hoard of Denver, Colorado, Dean Hoard and his wife, Letha of Ft. 1005 | [[ Obituary: Intelligencer Journal (Lancaster, PA) - December 14, 2005 Deceased Name: Robert E. "Bob" Haar Robert E. "Bob" Haar PAID OBITUARIES a.k.a. Robert "Bob" Hoar Formerly of 715 Dorchester Road, Baltimore, MD. Thursday (Thanksgiving Day), November 24, 2005, Robert E. "Bob" Haar crossed the threshold of the Kingdom of Heaven to join with his late wife, Mildred (Eshelbrenner) Haar, who went before him in October, 1971. Bob was born in Lancaster on January 21, 1909. He attended the public schools of Lancaster, graduating from the Lancaster Boys High School, February, 1926. Upon graduation from high school, Bob was temporarily employed at Armstrong Cork Company before being employed as an engineering draftsman by the Edison Electric Company of Lancaster (now PPL). Franklin and Marshall College granted Bob its first swimming athletic scholarship with responsibility to coach the college swimming team and managing the opening of the Fackenthal swimming pool facilities. While attending Franklin and Marshall College, Bob was a member of the Delta Sigma Phi Fraternity, where he served as president and other offices. Bob served as president of the Inter Fraternity Council. After graduation from Franklin and Marshall College with a B.S. degree in the class of 1933 he was recipient of the Williamson Award given annually to the outstanding graduate. Later he was inducted into the Franklin and Marshall Sports Hall of Fame. When the swimming pool of the Lancaster Country Club was completed in the summer of 1930, Bob was employed as its first lifeguard and swimming instructor. Bob continued summer employment at the Lancaster Country Club through 1934. In the meantime, Bob and Mildred were married. In the fall of 1934 they moved to the Baltimore, MD area, where Bob had accepted employment by Montgomery Ward Company as a purchaser and merchandiser. Bob continued his employment until he retired February 1, 1974. Bob was very active in his community and received many recognitions and awards for his volunteer services. He was elected president of the Kensington Improvement Association and later as its treasurer until he suffered a debilitating stroke March 8, 2004. He was a staunch advocate for the concerns of the community. On military leave from Montgomery Ward Company, Lt. Robert E. Haar, USN, served Naval Supply Corps, 1943-1945. His last off-shore assignment was the Naval Supply Depot on the island of Guam. Upon discharge from active duty, he was assigned to the U.S. Naval Reserve, being honorably discharged in October, 1955. Upon release from active duty, Bob returned to his employment at Montgomery Ward Company. In addition to his late wife, Mildred (Eshelbrenner) Haar, Robert E. Haar was predeceased by his parents, Miller E. and Ella K. (Weise) Hoar; brothers, Franklin B. Haar, husband of the late Billie Haar, and Kenneth W. Haar, husband of the late Jacqueline (Marantz) Haar; sisters, Loretta H. Walker, survived by husband, Eugene Walker, Palm Harbor, FL, and Jean H. Coho, survived by husband Ralph Coho Jr., Willow Street. In addition to his brothers-in-law, Bob is survived by nieces and nephews of the Haar, Eshelbrenner, Coho, and Walker families. Brackbill, 64, of Elk Grove, died late Tuesday in Bloomsburg Hospital, where he had been a patient since Dec. 13. He had been in ill health for the past six months. Brackbill was the owner and operator of the former Howard Brackbill Garage, Ronks. He had worked there most of his life with his father and had owned the business from 1973 until 1987. He also had worked in the shipping and receiving department of James W. Wild Co. for more than 10 years until his retirement in 1998. He had served in the U.S. Army. He was affiliated with Stillwater Christian Church. An avid hunter and fisherman, he was a Lancaster area high school graduate. Following many years working in the insurance industry, he became the manager of the hardware department of the former Mailman's department store and owned and operated a motel in Lebanon County, retiring in 1979. He was the husband of Catherine W. "Kitty" Miley Hoar Guinter. They had been married 18 years. Guinter was a member of St. Joseph Catholic Church in Lancaster. He also belonged to American Legion Post 34 of Lancaster and the Millersville-Manor Veterans of Foreign Wars Post 7294. A 1941 graduate of Milton High School, he served in World War II, first with the Army Air Forces in Greenland, and later with the Army Corps of Engineers in India, where he helped build the Burma Road. She assisted her husband in business at the Deerskin Leather Shop of Kitchen Kettle Village, Intercourse, PA. She graduated from the former Paradise High School class of 1934. Zelma enjoyed knitting, crocheting and reading. Surviving are two children: H. Lee husband of Mary Ellen Yuninger Hoar of Covington, PA, Margaret A. wife of Paul N. Born in Jackson on May 30, 1921, she was the daughter of auto pioneer Frank "Joe" Eisele and Teresa (Horr). She graduated from St. Mary's High School and the St. Joseph's Hospital School of Nursing in Mt. Clemens, MI. She served in the Navy Nurse Corps in World War II and was on the nursing staff of Mercy and Foote Hospital from where she retired in 1986. She was a member of St. Mary's Church and the Order of the Elks in Jackson, and Our Lady Queen of Apostles in Florida. She was preceded in death by her husband of 49 years, Erwin (Ed) Bosca with whom she moved to Florida, where he died in 1996. She was also preceded in death by grandsons, Robert and Joshua Bosca; son-in-law, Fred King; and brothers, Eugene, Joseph and Donald Eisele. Barbara will be greatly missed by her children, David, Diane King and Daniel of Royal Palm Beach, Donald (Tonya) of Mansfield, TX and Deborah Bernhart (Philip) of Brighton, MI; her grandchildren, Alice and Teresa King (Kevin Woods), Jonathan and Jennifer Bernhart, Ryan, Jason and Jeremy Bosca; her great-grandchildren, Chelsie and Cody Johnson (Kayla Beatty), Gage Reynolds, Jagger Woods, and Eve Bernhart and great-great-grandchild, Chelsie Marie Johnson. 1017 | [[ Obituary: James Richard Orr, of 3232 Richardson, died Friday evening at his home, surrounded by his loving family. He was born in Butte Dec. 29, 1940, to James T. and Elaine (Driscoll) Hoar. He graduated from Butte High School in 1959 and served his country in the Air Force. He worked as an electrician for the Anaconda Co. for 26 years. He retrained after the closure of the ACM and worked as an instrumentation and control technician for MSE until his retirement in 1994. He was a member of Aldersgate United Methodist Church, the Arco Retiree's Club, the Montana Cornish Cousins and was always ready and willing to help anyone in need. James married Carol Whithorn on June 28, 1972, in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho, and she survives. Joseph served his country proudly in the US Army for 32 years, retiring in 1975 as a full Colonel. Joseph served in Korea and twice in VietNam and received two bronze stars and a meritorious service medal for his actions. After his military service, he worked as the traffic manager for Scheiflein & Co. in New York before his final retirement in Newark, DE. As an active member and past commander of the McDaniel American Legion Post in Newark, Joseph contributed much of his energy to proclaim and support the Legion's National Oratorical Contest for High School Students. As a parishioner of St. Mary of the Assumption Church, Joseph attended Mass daily, served on the board of St. Patrick's Cemetery and was an active volunteer. Joseph's hobbies included bowling and golf. In addition to his parents, Joseph was predeceased by his brothers, Rev. Thomas Hoar and Col. William Hoar. Ruth graduated from Southwest Baptist University and later received her B.S. degree in elementary education and master's in elementary administration from Central Missouri State University. She taught in the Raytown Missouri School District for 30 years prior to retiring. She was active in the Raytown Community Teachers Association and received their Outstanding Service Award in 1987. Ruth was a member of the First Baptist Church of Raytown since 1954, where she served on the Stewardship Committee, taught Sunday School and most recently served as the Church Historian. Ruth was a member of the Raytown Retired Teachers Association, Alpha Rho Chapter of Delta Kappa Gamma, and the Marguarite McNair Chapter of DAR. She received the Life Service Award from Southwest Baptist University for outstanding service to the University. Since retirement, she enjoyed worldwide travel with her many friends. In 1991, she traveled to China for eight weeks and taught conversational English at the University in Nanning, China. She also enjoyed spending many hours in researching and writing a family history. He passed away surrounded by loved ones after a two and a half year battle with brain cancer. Kevin served proudly for 13 years in the United States Marine Corps, serving during Desert Storm, and was discharged honorably at the rank of E5. He resided in West Valley City, UT and worked for the Granite School District as a network engineer. He was active with the B.S.A., and was a Scout Master for many years. He was a member of the NRA and a range master at Camp Tracy. Kevin was an active member in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints and served his mission in the Pennsylvania Harrisburg Mission. He served as a Stake Missionary and served in many callings. The great love he had for his family, friends, neighbors, church and country will be remembered by those who loved him. A lifetime Reno County resident, living in Pretty Prairie and South Hutchinson, he was a farmer and woodworker. He was a cabinetmaker for Architectural Millwork Inc. for 27 years and then worked for Technique Manufacturing. He belonged to First Mennonite Church, Pretty Prairie, and attended South Hutchinson United Methodist Church. On Nov. 11, 1953, he married Voncille Jean Johnson in Pretty Prairie. She died Nov. 24, 1990. On Oct. 12, 1996, he married Edna R. Slate Goering in Pretty Prairie. She died May 26, 1999.
