Gideon Hoar bought land in Swansy in 1770. In 1799 he lived in Somerset. In 1804 as "Hoard" he deeded his homestead to his son Seth, who leased back for the lives of his father and mother. He served as private in Capt. Peleg Peck's Co. in 1778 for 43 days.
