      SHREWSBURY - The Rev. G. Garrett Carpenter, 55, of 17 Santa Circle, Pittsford, N.Y., a former vicar, formerly of Main Street, died Friday at home after a seven-year struggle with Parkinson's disease.
      He leaves his wife of 25 years, Judith H. (Hoar) Carpenter; three daughters, Deborah, Sarah and Rachel Carpenter, all of Pittsford; his parents, George and Irene Carpenter of Bethesda, Md.; a brother, Stephen Carpenter of Staunton, Va.; a sister, Ellen Kneessi of Bethesda, Md.; nephews and nieces. He was born in Washington, D.C., and lived there many years. He lived 12 years in Shrewsbury before moving to Pittsford in 1982. He graduated from Haverford (Pa.) College and the Episcopal Divinity School in Cambridge.
      The Rev. Mr. Carpenter was rector of Christ Church in Pittsford, N.Y., for six years, retiring in 1988 due to illness. He was previously vicar of Trinity Episcopal Church for 12 years, and oversaw construction of the new church. Before then, he was rector of St. Matthew's Episcopal in Seat Pleasant, Md.
      Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday in St. Paul's Episcopal Church, Rochester, N.Y. After cremation, burial will be in the memorial garden of Christ Church in Pittsford. Calling hours at Anthony Funeral Chapel, Rochester, are 2 to 4 and 7 to 9 p.m. tomorrow. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the Parkinson's Disease Research Fund, care of Dr. Ira Shoulson, University of Rochester, 601 Elmwood Ave., P.O.
