Hoar. 66, a Yonkers resident until moving to Jamesburg, . N.J., 20 years ago, died Sunday at St. Peter's Hospital in New Brunswick, N.J., after a brief illness. He was an engineer for Edison Industries in Edison, N.J., and prior to World War II was a member of the U.S. Maritime service. During the war, he was employed by the Army Transport Service that carried troops between Australia and the Pacific Islands. Mr. Hoar was born in Yonkers on March 8, 1904, to Patrick and Mary Boyle Hoar and attended local schools. On March 13, 1931, in South Hampton, England, he married the former Clara Leadbitter who survives. In addition to his wife, he is survived by two sons, Patrick of Pompton Plains, N.J., and Joseph V. Jr. of Jamesburg; three brothers, James A. and Thomas A., both of Yonkers, and Francis X. of Manhassett, L.I.; a sister, Mrs. John H. (Agnes) Bradley, also of Yonkers, and four grandchildren. A sister, Helen C. Hoar, died on Oct. 21,1960.
