      CALVIN HOAR CAPT. USMC - RETIRED - PORT ST. JOHN - Calvin Hoar, after valiantly fighting a long time military related illness, went home to be with Our Lord on Sunday, December 28, 2008. A former U.S. Marine combat photographer and photojournalist during the Vietnam conflict, he was exposed to Agent Orange. Enlisting at the age of 18, Captain Hoar was proud of his service and the many accomplishments throughout his military career. He enjoyed being able to maintain close contact with former military buddies in several states. Following military retirement, he was employed as a builder salesman for Scotty's, Cocoa and enjoyed hobbies including: coin collecting, golfing, and flying radio controlled airplanes, In addition to photography, he was an avid space enthusiast who regularly distributed mission specific commemorative coins to viewers of Shuttle launches at Nicol Park in Port St. John. Calvin was a devoted husband to beloved wife of forty- seven years, Carol (Warner); father to son, Doug (Kimberly); daughters, Stacey Reinmund (Michael), Cheryl Wellington; adopted daughter, Kristina Johnson; five grandchildren, and four great- grandchildren. He is also survived by brother, Charles Hoar; sister, Judy McPherson; and mother-in-law, Margaret Babb. A memorial service is planned for Wednesday, January 7th, at 7 p.m. at the First Baptist Church of Port St. John, 3900 Fay Boulevard, Port St. John, FL, 32927. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in his name to the First Baptist Church of Port St. John. Arrangements made by Brevard Memorial Funeral Home, Cocoa, FL.
