My ancestor is WILLIAM QUINE from "the Isle of Man". He purchased 631 acres of land in Caswell County NC in 1783. His wife's name was Sarah (?) and had four sons, Jacob, Mordecai, Henry and Wiliam and two daus, Elizabeth (m.John Stafford) and Sarah (m.William Camron/Cameron). William's son Jacob migrated to Grainger County, TN in 1814. Jacob had married Eloner Gunn, widow of Thomas Gunn of Caswell Co, NC (will probated in January of 1801)and moved to Grainger County, Tenn. Jacob's dau, Ketturah married John Whitlock and it is from this family that I descend.

In his will 29 July 1791, William Quine names wife, Sarah: daughters Elizabeth Stafford, Sarah Quine; sons Jacob, Mordecai, Henry, William; brothers Benjamin and Henry Quine. Wit. Henry Howard and Samuel Stafford.
