Kathleen L. Gardner, 66, of Congress Square Plaza died Sunday at a Portland nursing home.
She was born in Portland, the daughter of James and Mary Devany Horr, and attended South Portland schools.
Mrs. Gardner was a homemaker. Later she attended Pierre's School of Beauty and in the 1960s, operated her own beauty shop on Park Avenue here.
She was a guitarist who performed locally. She enjoyed country crafts and floral arranging.
Mrs. Gardner was secretary of the board at Congress Square Plaza and was a communicant of the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception.
Surviving are a son, Jack L. Gardner of Yonkers, N.Y.; four daughters, Rosalyn G. Lebeda of Portland, Joanne C. Currey of Seattle, Doris G. Parent of Windham and Susan M. Gardner of Del Rio, Texas; three sisters, Jane Pooler of South Portland, Mrs. Robert (Carolyn) Gilman of Westbrook and Mrs. Leo (Linda) White of Windham; 13 grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Family prayers will be recited at 9:15 a.m. Wednesday atHay & Peabody Funeral Home, 749 Congress St. A funeral Mass will follow at the Cathedral of the Immaculate Conception, 307 Congress St. Burial will be in New Calvary Cemetery [in South Portland].
