wrangler, 1831) and winning the 2nd Chancellor's Medal. M.A.(1834). Fellow +
(1833-5). He was ordained deacon (Winchester, 1841). He was curate of ALl +
Saints, Southampton (1841). He was a good Hebrew scholar and took part in the +
Colenso controversy. He suffered from ill health that prevented him from +
accepting any of the livings offered to him. He retired (? as Vicar)to Crawley, +
Sussex and Oakfield, Sussex. Author of several Ecclesiastical Works, Religious +
Addresses, Letters, etc (DBAA; cites 'The Harmony of the Apocalypse (1848) & +
'Outlines of Ecclesiatical History before the Reformation' (1852)). +
