MICHIGAN CITY - Wanda E. Millikin, Michigan City, passed away Thursday (Sept. 11, 2008).
She was born to Verne and Ruth Hoar in Colchester, Ill., in April 1917. She was married to Robert W. Millikin on June 8, 1935, and enjoyed a 67-year marriage.
Wanda and Bob had two children, Michael (Sonia) Millikin, and Ruth Angelyn (Bill) Jenkins. She was preceded in death by her husband in 2002, her parents and two brothers, Jack and Verne Jr.
Wanda is also survived by 10 grandchildren, Matthew (Cheryle) Millikin, Lori (Larry) Creasy, Jill (Greg Roy) Millikin, Richard (Dee) Millikin, Aaliyah Millikin, Alicia Arceo, Elizabeth (Todd) Springer, Bernadette (Gonzo) Soto, David (Susan) Jenkins and Jacquelyn Jenkins; eight great-grandchildren, Colin and Kerry Creasy, Jennifer Millikin, Valerie Comerford, Mitchell and Bobby Millikin and Will and Sam Jenkins; special niece, Virginia Gerhardt, Nauvoo, Ill.; several other nieces and nephews.
Graveside services will be held Saturday at Mount Auburn Cemetery, Colchester, Ill. No local visitation will be held. A memorial service will be held at 1:30 p.m. Friday, Sept. 26, at Augustana Lutheran Church in Hobart, Ind.
Wanda and Bob were members of The Curly Que Square Dance Club in the local area. They also lived in St. James City, Fla., for many years and belonged to the American Legion and The Moose Organization and fished and golfed together. Wanda was a certified dental assistant for Dr. Cibok of Portage, Ind.
Contributions would be appreciated to The American Cancer Society of American Heart Association. Kuiper Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
