108. JOHN (1) SPRAGUE, b. May 4, 1708, Lebanon, CT,; m. there (1) Sept. 7, 1726, Hepibeth Hartwell, b. Sept. 2, 1709. He settled before 1745 at Southeast, a town in Carmel, now Putman Co., NY. He was a Justice of the Peace and an influential member of the Congregational Church. He m. (2) Hannah Holly of Dutchess Co., who was living in Pawling,NY in 1790.
Three children by first wife and one by second and perhaps others.

Deborah (Allen) Slocum. (Slocum History, 1882) Putnam Co. was set off from Dutchess Co. in 1812.

23, 1727, Lebanon, CT., d. Aug. 25, 1806, age 80 years, Hinesburg, VT; m. Desire _____, b. 1730, d. Aug. 21, 1806, at Hinesburg,
VT; both buried in Mead Cemetery.
1756, April 11, Bap. at Gilead Presbyterian Church, Carmel, NY, by Rev. Knibloe.
1768. Bought land in Lanesborough, MA
1769. Eleazer and Desire were admitted to St. Lukes Church in Lanesborough, MA.
1771. Bought land in Lanesborough. (Berkshire Co. MA Deeds.)
Served in Capt. Asa Barnes' Company., Col. Benjamin Simon's Regiment, Service 5 days on an alarm at the northward.
Company marched from Lanesborough, Oct. 26, 1780. (MA Soldiers and Sailors Record Volumes.)
1781. One of the first settlers in Hinesburg, VT and came with his wife from Lanesboro. (VT History Magazine, 1, 194.)
